Chattanooga Zoo’s mission is to engage and inspire the community to better understand and conserve wildlife through meaningful connections between people and animals. Chattanooga Zoo houses animals from all over the world – many of them endangered or critically endangered species – including giraffes, red pandas, chimpanzees, jaguars, snow leopards, and many others. Chattanooga Zoo participates in SSPs (Species Survival Plans) and SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction) programs to support wildlife conservation locally and globally. After the success of the Cape of Africa section in 2024, the Zoo announced a 10-year master plan for future development including new species and exciting ideas for new Zoo sections. Throughout the year, the Zoo hosts numerous events like Boo in the Zoo and the Asian Lantern Festival as well as educational programs like Zoo Camp, homeschool classes, early learning programs, and more.
