Founded on January 28, 2018, the KELCURT Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting individuals and families throughout Hamilton County and beyond. Our mission is to elevate community spirit and guide people toward self-sustaining practices that eliminate food insecurity, expand access to education and the arts, and strengthen overall well-being. We believe that lasting change begins when neighbors share knowledge, talents, and resources—and that everyone deserves equitable access to the tools needed to thrive.
Our Programs
📚 The Soddy-Daisy Community Library (SDCL)Our flagship project, the SDCL, is more than a library—it’s a vibrant community hub serving residents across Hamilton County and six neighboring counties. With over 1,100 active patron accounts and a collection of more than 23,000 items, the library offers far more than books. Patrons can borrow bakeware, tools, games, puzzles, DVDs, and even seeds from our growing Seed Library.SDCL hosts a variety of free programs including weekly Storytimes, an adult book club, monthly art therapy, and creative workshops in art and baking. We also sponsor author visits and literary events, enriching local culture and sparking imagination for all ages.Beyond the shelves, we promote dignity and well-being by providing free feminine hygiene products through the library and six local middle and high schools.
🌱 KELCURT FarmsLaunched in 2023, KELCURT Farms was born from our commitment to fight food insecurity through education and action. Operating two hoop houses and three open-air farms on donated land, we grow fresh, nutrient-rich produce that nourishes the community. A portion of each harvest sustains the program, while the majority is donated to local partners like the Soddy-Daisy Food Bank and the Soddy-Daisy Community Library for free distribution. Our gardens also serve as outdoor classrooms—teaching sustainable agriculture, nutrition, and the joy of growing your own food.
📖 SDCL Read 20When Hamilton County defunded the long-standing Read 20 program in 2024, we stepped in to continue its vital work. Since July 2024, SDCL Read 20 has visited over 60 schools, childcare centers, and Head Start programs, delivering more than 15,000 free books to children. The program inspires lifelong readers through read-aloud events, librarian training sessions, and family engagement activities. We’ve also launched a middle school book club and partnered with Soddy-Daisy High School’s National Honor Society to train student volunteers to lead read-alouds for Read Across America 2025.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every individual—regardless of circumstance—has access to the arts, education, and food security needed to thrive. Through compassion, creativity, and collaboration, we are building a community rooted in shared knowledge, self-sustainability, and hope.
